Yes most of the designjets I've used had the PS moniker at the end of
the model number. And as others have noted ps and pdf always work, but
other methods do not especially printing directly for ArcGIS, things
would come out upsidedown, rotated, backwards or the wrong size.
Note printing via a dedicated print server(computer with OS) is also a
terrible idea, especially since the designjets have hard drives an ram
to hold the jobs to begin with.

Never tried HPGL2, not even sure how to do it, sounds like extra work.
