You're right, gvSIG Mini is for simple GIS funcionality.

If you are looking for an alternative to ArcPad, that's the same objective that gvSIG Mobile addresses. It started con 2007 with the same objective. It can load vector files (SHP, GML, GPX), raster files (ECW, JPEG, ...), WMS layers, can generate GPX tracks, convert GPS tracks to SHP, GPX and GML. It also can edit vector layers (both geometry and attributes) by hand or GPS-based. It enables custom forms for attributes in display and edit mode. Next version also features WFS client, several GNSS new capabilities (filters, raw data, differential GPS, TSIP protocol, route/waypoint management, etc.).

We are now thinking in porting some vector capabilities from gvSIG Mobile to gvSIG Mini, so that some features can be used in an Android phone. It could be a good starting point for collaboration.
