Hi,

no there is at this moment no such way to use those kind of maps. These 
kind of services are called 'Tiled Map Services', and one of the 
drawbacks of these are that (without othere rescaling clientside) they 
serve only (map tile) images for fixed scales.

We have been thinking about it at an earlier hackfest, but up untill now 
nobody has started to work on it.

Theoretically it would be feasible: just provide some 'tile-scheme' to a 
WMS-T/TMS/-layer and provide the service url.
Then the layer could retrieve the 'capabilities' and from that on maybe 
the map will be frozen to only the scales provided by this Tiled Map 
Server (?).
Map-Libraries like openlayers also have this notion of either 'free 
scaling' or 'fixed scales'.

But somebody should pick up this glove :-)
