[Qgis-user] QGIS 1.4 not linking to GDAL?

That has been one of my many my suspicions. I confess that I now have no
idea how I installed GDAL. Perhaps starting again might be the trick.

I would look to make sure that you do not have more than one install of 
GDAL. Are you using GDAL from Ubuntugis, source or another repo? 

QGIS might be using a different GDAL install than the 1st one on your 
path as shown by GDALformats.
