there are know issues in the "vector" toolbox (see the bug tracker) but
a few of them have been already solved in the qgis trunk version of
qgis.

If you are able I would suggest to compile the latest code on your Mac.
There should be compiling guide in the wiki, but I'm sure that if you
need you'll also find help here in the list.
