[Qgis-user] copying only a features geometry???

hei folks.

i've got a problem/question concerning copying features from one layer
to another. I read the section 3.5.3 in the QGIS user guide (Version
1.5.0 ’Tethys’) and it says that the QGIS ignores attributes from
feature of the source layer that do not fit in the schema of the target
layer. So I wonder if one can copy features without passing any
attributes (only the geom)? For instants if I want to copy a feature
from a source layer in a target layer with the same schema and I do not
want to just alter the schema because some calculations are made
depending on the field name?

I made also the somewhat strange experiences that QGIS copies all of the
features attributes ignoring the constraints of one field (putting
stings in integer fields, so on) but when be stored, QGIS complains and
refuses to store anything.

All this experieces made on a winxp sys with QGIS 1.5 standalone
installer (and others), with SHPs and PG layers.

any suggestions are welcome.

cheers Johannes
