There is a new driver for DWG based on the Open Design Alliance Teigha 
Libraries (not FOSS AFAIK) in GDAL 1.9.0dev trunk. I don't know why it is not 
advertized on the OGR formats page, maybe beacause its status is still a bit 
experimental. Perhaps FrankW could confirm.
