[Qgis-user] create vector grid in postgresql or merge vector grid into existing table

Hi Group,
I'm using postgis and qgis and would like to create a vector grid (as
in the research tools menu) within an existing postigis table.

At the moment I can create a shapefile and import it using SPIT but
this doesn't work with an existing table and I can't figure out how to
merge an existing shapefile into an existing table.
