[Qgis-user] Trouble digitizing polygons

Hi list:

I hope someone can help me: I'm digitizing a georeferenced raster map. 
(CRS is set to UTM-17s). I've created a new polygon layer and I can do 
individual polygons; but when I try to add a new one next to the 
existing polygon, I get an error: "No se pudo añadir el objeto espacial 
porque eliminar las intersecciones de polígonos cambiaría el tipo de 
geometría" (The feature could not be added because removing the polygon 
intersections would change the geometry type).

Some idea about what is wrong?
