+1 for me too.

As an engineer without particular GIS expertise but for whom QGIS
provides a very useful resource, being forced into correct procedures is
definitely a good idea.  I have spent more than my share of time trying
to figure out, and  correct, things like Ontario, Canada being displayed
in two places at once or all of the roads in Ontario being displayed
encompassed by Moira Lake.
