[Qgis-user] Date format in shape

Hi list, 

Is it possible to handle a date format attribute in a shape ? When I open 
a shape containing a date format attribute, it is impossible to edit data 
in it. And when I create a new shape, I cannot choose a date format. Am I 
obliged to work with PostGIS ?
