[Qgis-user] Cannot add any GRD data

I have just installed QGIS 1.7 on XP and can add vector layers, but not any
GRD raster layer
I just get the message that this '<file locataion> is not a supported raster
data source.'
It doesn't matter where the GDR file is.
Any help appreciated,
