[Qgis-user] Problem changing a shapefile's coordinates

for vectors try the ftools plugin (Vector> Data management tools)
(defines projection permanently)
or use <save as...> to save the vector file to a different projection
(make sure that the original is correctly defined).

for rasters use the GDAL tools plugin
