[Qgis-user] Oracle Spatial Driver

All, 

I've had some experience here.  The two modes of operation that are
described are an accurate representation of the Oracle world.  I would
suggest at least including a descriptive difference in any sort of work
order put out.  There will likely need to be two separate modes of
operation available (spatially).  If you are building a true Oracle
connector, you may want to even think of it as three separate modes,
since a straight tabular linking is also a likely valuable addition. 
Connecting Oracle tabular data to Spatial constructs would be a usable
business tool for many.

misfortune to glean from trying to work with it.
I raised it because due to the way that Oracle license, its easy to
accidentally use Oracle Spatial functions when you only want to use
Oracle Locator (which is a subset of Oracle Spatial functions).

I think from a driver perspective they're identical, but that QGIS
shouldn't use any of the Spatial functions unless the user explicitly
asks it to.

 Hi,

Shouldn't the Oracle driver work for both versions? I would assume so,
but I may be wrong ... To me (not an oracle specialist) it seems like
this is only a licensing difference?
