[Qgis-user] How to find info about a feature in map?

Hi
I can't find how I select the shape-file object (point, line or polygon) on
the map and find it in the shape-file? For instance select a 'point' and
find where it is in a layerfile and witch attribute it corensponding to.
When I use 'select singel feauter' QGIS work, and a little symbol around
the object appaers for a second, but dissappear again.
