[Qgis-user] Struggling with the field calculator

Hi,

I'm using QGIS 1.8.0 on Windows 7.

I have a shapefile with some Real attribute columns (Length 19, precision
10) and I want to create a percentage column from two of these.

So I start editing the file, open the attribute table and open the field
calculator.

Then I create a new field with the same data type (Real, length 19,
precision 10) and I use the GUI and field selectors to enter the following
expression:

"S2" / "GVA09" * 100

This works fine until I try to save the changes or stop editing. Then all
values in the new column revert to 0 or NULL.

Does someone know what is going on?
