I would not say it's broken .. it's just not working with the old API .. :)
But Holger .. Anita is right - get your copy of 1.0.8 - that should work
fine with QGIS 1.8 ..
Anything afterwards was during migration of sextante into core .. more
.. or less ..
Should all be solved with the release of 2.0 ..
