Hi All
Iam hoping to get a reply for some assistance urgently and have already
tried sending on this user list but did not get any feedback. If anyone can
assist I would be most appreciative.

I have recently downloaded Quantum GIS 1.8 and am trying to learn at a
rapid rate!

I have to do teach it to students at the University of Western Cape (SA) in
June. We teach them the different Open Source GIS programs to assist in
Health Analysis.

Two problems:

1) A problem I have come across is where do I set up expressions for
example in labelling - I have used the button in the toolbar 'new labelling
button' and then tried to use the expression. For example I just want
certain labels to appear eg Name = "Nome". It does not work? How can I use
this expression box under this label tool to label certain things?

2) Also how do I bring in an excel table and join this table to a
shapefile - Can I join them in Quantum?

Much appreciated

Sandy
