[Qgis-user] transparency

Using Qgis 1.7.   I need to use two layers - a shapefile and a raster (jpg).   They are loaded successfully and can be viewed one at a time but I can't seem to make transparency work.    CRS is set correctly for both layers.    All advice much appreciated.
