[Qgis-user] Which Projection to use?

Hello,

My problem:
I have to create a series of maps all around the world. For each map, I need a appropriate CRS in meters (t create buffers etc…) 
Does anybody know a source out there where I can see the extends of existing projections I can use for each map?

I keep bouncing up to http://spatialreference.org/ <http://spatialreference.org/> , but the list is of no use to me, as there is no map.
