[Qgis-user] oil gas symbols

 From http://blackbearddata.com/symbols download the zip file indicated 
on their web page, then unpack into C:\Program Files\QGIS 
Dufour\apps\qgis\svg

The in QGIS, Options -> System (scroll down to bottom)
At SVG Paths select Add, and navigate to the folder you just moved:
QGIS_Petro_SVG_Symbols

Add a point layer, open its Properties dialog, select Style, select 
Single Symbol
In the "Symbol layers" panel, click on the "Simple marker" item (that's 
the tricky part), then for "Symbol layer type" select "SVG marker"

Now to figure out how to assign the symbol by attribute...
