[Qgis-user] Newbie - QGIS won't recongize shp files, comp turns shp files into pdfs

Great,

Thank you! I got it to work -- indeed from just navigating directly to the
zip file from the 'add vector layer'. Though I will try your recommended
pathway next.

Thank you again everyone for what I'm sure seems like a remarkably easy
fix, but which was driving me bananas!
