[Qgis-user] Clear selection in attribute table by script

Hi,
I´m running a standalone script where I use the algoritm
qgis:selectbyattribute() to select features from an attribute table. As the
selection is performed within a loop, and I use the same attribute table, I
need to clear the selection prior to every new loop to get the next
selection right.
So my question is: where do I find an algorithm or tool that clears
selected features? I am using QGIS 2.2.0 Valmiera.
