Hi,
To the best of my knowledge, I have followed the instructions provided and I got the correct version of exifread [1] that seems to be in the correct place [2]
EXIF.py works from the command line. In my 10.9.5 machine Qgis 2.12 crashes, in the 10.11.1 Qgis 2.13 doesn’t work but doesn’t crack. See the error reported

[1] EXIF.py -v Version 2.1.2 on Python2
[2] /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/exifread
[3]  "/Users/agus/.qgis2/python/plugins/photo2shape/photoimporter.py", line 127, in importPhotos
			    ft['filepath'] = fName
			KeyError: 'filepath'
