[Qgis-user] multiple labels for polygon bug

Further to previous message asking if it is possible to label a polygon with more than one column from the attribute table. I tried to produce an additional single column with the full label by concatenating the other two columns using:

concat('plot',id,'  ',area,'sq m')

this works and shows the correct plot and area in the preview box.  Unfortunately there appears to be a bug that prevents this showing on the map and, much worse, then goes on to destroy the data for the id column itself.

using qgis 2.6.1 on win8.1
