[Qgis-user] QGIS supported server OS and System requirement

Hi Sushim, 

Most QGIS Server users are on Linux. Windows users complained a lot -
but theoretically it should also work on Windows. I use Ubuntu Server
LTS (14.04). You could also choose Debian, Fedora or SuSE. All of these
have reasonable amounts of users. 

I usually compile QGIS server from source - as this is quite flexible if
you need a new feature and don't want to wait for a release. 

Compiling QGIS from source is probably also easier on Linux. 

As to hardware: I don't think we can to meaningful recommendations here.
If money is not an issue, I would go with SSD disks. Since QGIS server
is not multi-threaded, faster CPUs are more important than many cores.
Memory wise I would go with 24+ GB - but it would also work with less.
