[Qgis-user] Select layer in layers panel from canvas

 Hi all,

something I just don't get: Why can you use the "Identify Features" tool
and click anywhere on the canvas to get a context menu with all objects and
select them, BUT there's no way to select something on the canvas and have
it selected in the Layers Panel?

How can I select anything on the canvas and see on what layer it is?
Why is this so convoluted?
