[Qgis-user] Zoom Level Problem

I have a series of MapInfo tab files I have opened and saved as shape files.
I am trying to zoom in for detailed editing but the zoom level stops at a
scale of 1:2859. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to zoom
in further, to say 1:500?
