[Qgis-user] Problem with GDAL tools

I am facing a number of problems with version 2.18 that did not occur with
earlier versions.

When I tried to use the proximity (raster distance) tool, it gave the
following error message:

<<ERROR 6: GDALDriver::Create() ... no create method implemented for this
format.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\PROGRA~1\QGIS2~1.18\bin\gdal_proximity.py", line 167, in
dst_ds.SetGeoTransform( src_ds.GetGeoTransform() )
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'SetGeoTransform' >>
Trying to rasterize a point shapefile generated the following error message:

<<"ERROR 6: At least one of -3d, -burn or -a required.">>

Are there any solutions to these problems other than going back to some
earlier version of the program?
