I can confirm this using Windows 7 x64 and 2.18.8

Bug reported - https://issues.qgis.org/issues/16612 - and closed already as new fix is in place and will be coming in new build 2.18.9 shortly. Suggestion is to downgrade to 2.18.7 or use the Add PostGIS Layer button.

Adding to this, I have a problem with adding a list of points (from the GeoReferencer) also crashing the program (2.18.8 on Win7-64). For the time being, I have had revert back to 2.18.7.

Hi

I am using QGIS 2.18.8 and am experiencing QGIS crashing when trying to add PostGIS layers from the browser panel. I can successfully connect and add PostGIS layers thorugh the layer menu - is there a known issue / bug with using the browser panel to add db layers?

Thanks, Chris
