If it's your own line layer (and nothing to do with the grid) then simply don't style the layer but add labels only.

Sorry, I can't see how that this helps me print labels without their associated linework. My Grid settings in print composer were already at "Frame and Annotation only", and changing to "Markers" had no impact.

Hi Frank,

In the layout, in the item properties for the map, there's a section for "Grid".

If you look in there, and use the "Modify grid" button there are a number of options under "Grid type".

"Markers" or "Frame and annotations only" is probably close to what you want.
