Hi Orlando,

This is probably not the answer that you want, but William’s plugin has some nice instructions on how to make it work.

Grab the plugin from here http://www.kyngchaos.com/software/frameworks/ <http://www.kyngchaos.com/software/frameworks/> and work through the readme.
The worst bit is probably trying to get the ESRI website to cough up the download (Maybe here: https://download.hexagongeospatial.com/downloads/ecw/erdas-ecw-jp2-sdk-v5-4-macosx?result=true <https://download.hexagongeospatial.com/downloads/ecw/erdas-ecw-jp2-sdk-v5-4-macosx?result=true>).
