[Qgis-user] UPDATING GEO-REFERENCED POINTS

I have georeferenced data that I keep updating. 

The challenge I am having is I have to download the datafrom a GPS, plot it, and replace the previous points. 

Is there a way I can update the shapefile by appending thenew georeferenced data to the old shapefile without losing the map’s attributes?
