<font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">Another question regarding
0.11.0-Metis under Slackware 12.1. When measuring distances, the
results are obviously incorrect. In the screen capture
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://unisips.com/qgis">http://unisips.com/qgis</a>), I have measured from the end of the chain of
green points to the coastline (the white line.) The distance is given
as over 227,000 degrees - clearly wrong. Shapefiles are geographic
(lat/lon) in NAD83:</font><br>

<font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">I just started using qgis and
am extremely happy with it. I'm relatively new to GIS in general, so
I'm not sure if I've found a bug or if I'm doing something wrong. Any
help would be appreciated.<br>

Thanks,<br>
