Hi,<div>I made a dumb-check and found out the following:</div><div><br></div><div>Volumes, and folders within, are read (in a mac G3, tiger 10.4.11, with either version of QGis) as long as I drag the icon to the left-side bar. Big help indeed!</div><div>However, when exporting, for example a shape file from QGis to these "external" locations, either the save fails or QGis crashes, thus failing. If instead I save shapefiles in the "local" drive (boot disk), for example in desktop, all works smoothly. Thus, problem diminished with success!</div><div><br></div><div>Back to earlier issue: coding. Loading shapes in UTF8 does respect the .dbf characters (accents and "ñ") but are displayed as a questionmark symbol. If after loading shapefiles I edit the table from within QGis, all is set properly.
