This bug is solved in version 1.10 of GDAL.<o:p></o:p></li><li class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'>Your editing of QGIS CRS parameter database won't give you the wanted result, because when QGIS try to find the projection of a tab dataset it (probably) goes like this: <br>a) find MapInfo specific projection parameters in tab file, <br>b) convert these to the equivalent proj4 definition and <br>c) do a reverse lookup to find the EPSG code <br>QGIS never will never find your edited CRS parameters<o:p></o:p></li></ul><p class=MsoNormal>As you suggested, a solution to this problem could be to let QGIS override the "build-in" projection in a tab file with a .qpj companion file just like the case with shape files.
