Assuming shapefile I would: <br>
<br>
1. open the attribute table and add a field that is the correct
length (14th icon from the left on the attribute table)<br>
2. use field calculator to calculate the new field = to the old
field. <br>
3. Delete the original field. <br>
4. You have a choice now - if you want to keep the original field
name you can wash rinse and repeat this process by adding the
original field back OR<br>
<br>
5. Plugins -> Manage and install plugins -> table manager and
rename your new field to the name of the old field. <br>
