    Hi, you can do this using <b>New Temporary Scratch Layer</b>, <b>(Layer,
      Create Layer, </b><b>New Temporary Scratch Layer)<br>
    </b>The Dialogue box pops up<b> </b>under Geometry Type, you can
    specify Polygon or MultiPolygon, you can then save this Layer when
    finished<b>.<br>

            installed QGIS 2.18.10 and have found that I am receiving an
            error message when trying to copy features from a PostGIS
            layer into a shapefile. The error is:<o:p></o:p></span></p>

            geometry type is polygon and the PostGIS layer is a
            multi-polygon, but in previous versions I was able to copy
            features fine. Does this mean this is no longer possible?
            When creating a new shapefile in QGIS there isn’t the option
            to specify whether the polygon is a multipolygon or not, so
            not too sure how I would be able to do this?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
