<p>I meant in the first line, I would consider switching to another
distribution if you want to use QGIS 3. In this sense yes, if you
are bound to this CentOS distribution I would recommend to stick
to 2.18 or look for a way to run QGIS in a virtualized
environment.</p>

By this you mean an older version of QGIS such as 2.18 / 2.14 right ?
