<p>Ah - and don't forget that you need to finish the circle with the right-mouse button!</p>
<p>So the steps are (more or less):</p>
<p>- enable editing</p>
<p>- enable advanced digitizing tools (the button with square and ruler)</p>
<p>- enable the circle tool (e.g. "Add Circle by a Center Point and Another Point" tool)</p>
<p>- click in the canvas to set the circle center</p>
<p>- press "d" for distance and enter your radius (e.g. 5)</p>
<p>- press right mouse button to finish the circle</p>

<p>The shortcut "d" (distance) is your friend. When this mode is activated you can enter distances (like your radius) with the keyboard and QGIS will constrain to these values.</p>
<p>You need to invest a bit of time to understand all the construction modes, but once you get it, it is quite powerful.</p>
