    <p>I made a Google cloud bucket and uploaded my files to that. It is
      (surprisingly🙂) stable and fast ! The only downside is that it
      takes a long time the first time you open the layer, because QGIS
      will read the entire layer to ascertain the number of objects.
      When you have a layer with ca. 6.000.000 objects it takes a looong
      time. But opening the project after that is snappy. <br>

        static file hosting (it used to, but stopped around 2015). So
        you cannot use it to get a file URL that can be directly used to
        get the file contents. You'll need to host the file on a static
        file server or a cloud bucket (Google Cloud Storage or AWS s3)<br>

          I'm no expert on Google Drive but it looks like you're using
          the URL<br>
          for the friendly "view this file" page, rather than the URL
          that<br>
          contains the raw file content itself.<br>

          You'll probably have to try to download the file and grab the
          download<br>
          URL it gives you there and use that instead.<br>
