Our SLA provides a 100% uptime guarantee, and we are always looking for ways to segment our services in a way that only those actually using a given service are bearing the cost to maintain it. Many providers have a one-size-fits-all service, and we believe that penalizes some users, making them pay for features that they may never use. Our goal, is to provide you with exactly the service you need, at the highest level of service possible. We value your business and believe the updates listed below will increase the reliability of our network and the value of the service we are providing to you.

1) ANYCAST SERVICE NOW ENABLED ON ALL PAID DNS HOSTING FREE OF CHARGE: Last year, we completed the largest upgrade to our DNS Hosting infrastructure since rolling out the product over 8 years ago. Our goals were to increase the reliability of our network, and to realize a higher level of DDoS protection than our network was able to provide at the time. If you're not familiar with anycast, take a look at the following article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anycast - but the bottom line is, our ns2.dnspark.net nameserver is now an anycast node, present on over 20 geographically dispersed servers. Because our core service is DNS Hosting, after substantial testing, we silently rolled this update out to all paid DNS Hosting plans FREE OF CHARGE. (If you are not listing ns2.dnspark.net in your authoritative list, we recommend you do that as soon as possible.)

2) BASE DNS HOSTING RECORD LIMITS: Effective February 16, 2011, Base DNS Hosting will have the following record limits imposed:

a) Total number of customer-created records in the zone: 10
b) One wildcard per zone. Standard DNS Hosting is not affected and currently has an unlimited record limit. The current record count/limit is available at the top of the DNS Hosting screen for each domain. The vast majority of our customers using Base DNS Hosting are under 10 records already and no action is needed on your part if that applies to you. If you are currently using Base DNS Hosting and are over the record limit, your current records are still advertising and will not be affected. However, in order to make any changes to your zone, you will need to remove enough records to get at or below the limit.

3) DNS TRANSFER SERVICE: Also effective February 16, 2011, all outbound AXFR requests will be provided by our new DNS Transfer Service. You can purchase the DNS Transfer Service by logging in, choosing Purchase Services from the Main Menu and checking under the DNS Services group. DNS Transfer Service pricing is PER ACCOUNT, not per domain. After February 16, 2011, only accounts with the DNS Transfer Service will send NOTIFYs and allow transfers to external slave nameservers.

If you are NOT operating your own off-network slave nameservers, NO ACTION is needed on your part.

If you have your own slave nameservers configured, you will need to purchase our DNS Transfer service prior to February 16, 2011.
