Hi SAC,

Coming back from the SIG Libre conference (Spanish FOSS4G meetup)
I had a chat with Miguel Sevilla (OSGeo Charter Member, CC'ed)
about Zaragoza University offering storage to mirror OSGeo's
download server in their infrastructure here in Spain. Miguel
already mentioned this on the SAC chat room some time ago so
better probably to continue the discussion on an email thread.

Also on CC on this thread is Ángel Balo, member of the Open
Source office at Zaragoza University.

If OSGeo is interested on having a mirror in Europe, from the
technical point of view they'd from OSGeo

A brief description of the assets to host

Current storage required

Some estimation of growth

Preferred synchronization technology (rsync?). I see that we
already support anonymous
rsync download

There may also some other bureaucracy required (a memorandum of
understanding, or something similar I guess) but that can happen
in parallel.

Please let us know what do you think about this.

Cheers!
