“Last year at FOSS4G NA 2015, 30% of the speakers, and 30% of the audience were women. That is exceptional for an open source conference like FOSS4G. They have historically been around 5% to 10% women.”

Dear Everyone,

 

There's just one day left until tomorrow's early CfP deadline. We're getting some great proposals. Every little bit of outreach helps so please shout from the rooftops with us.

 

If you know good people, doing really interesting work, that happen to be women, please actively encourage them to propose talks. In case you were not aware, last year we were fortunate that a good number of women speakers participated including some that weren't sure they were worthy to speak at FOSS4G NA. The feedback from attendees on their talks was extremely positive. A little encouragement at the right time can make a difference.

 

Thank you again for all your efforts to make the conference awesome.
