Bundesamtes für Eich- und Vermessungswesen (BEV) in Austria among others already uses this to register metadata records in the DOI registry. Check <a href="https://data.bev.gv.at/geonetwork/srv/ger/catalog.search#/metadata/1229e034-97ca-4cef-9703-33f67bf6c2db" target="_blank">for example here</a> to see this in action.
