I think Perry is right. We could coordinate a whole session (3 or 4
papers  if the conference organizers are ammenable. I doubt this is the
right group for technical workshops but rather examples or demos of how
the technology might be relevant in their work. I've cc'd Ned for
comment.

What do you have in mind?  I'm really interested but don't have much
time this week...  perhaps if Ned can get an entire session on open
source GIS use (in conservation)--we can fill that session with
presentations.  Or we can do a series of OSGeo workshops or demos...
