[TCMUG] Idea for next meeting - geonetwork??

Hello,

I'm new to this local os list, but I am interested in learning more about GeoNetwork opensource as a catalog/clearinghouse tool.

I work at the Met Council and am responsible for the DataFinder site (www.datafinder.org). We're looking at redoing the site in the next 6-12 months. I am interested in how best to include services and applications along with metadata in searches etc. I want to evaluate the GeoNetwork tools for this task.

Anyway - I'd love to have the opportunity to talk with anyone who has used the GeoNetwork set of tools. I heard that Steve Lime has been working with them. Any chance of a discussion or demo of that work?

Thanks for your consideration.

I have an idea for a meeting topic. Bob B. and I have been working on
putting together an agenda and announcement for a 3 day class we would
like to offer on MapServer/GeoMOOSE/PostGIS. We would welcome the
opportunity to bounce this off the rest of the TCMUG members and try to
get some more feedback on what we should try to fit into a 3 day class.
Also if our costs we are proposing seems reasonable.

Thanks,
Brian

I don't know if people are still paying attention to the things posted
in there. Anybody with an account can add an event in the MapServer
site. I added the March meeting as an event but oddly enough missed it
(I was coaching an Ultimate team that afternoon).

We can use the wiki but it doesn't have the features that the
MapServer site provides, namely the ability to add the event to your own
calendar. I can update this stuff but I need to know in advance the
meeting date, location, and a simple agenda. I'm not volunteering for
secretary though as I'm decidedly absent-minded.

So, we have May 13 and June 10 dates. Let's decide which is
which and add that to the calendar. Here's the last event announcement
for TCMUG:

For the record, I believe anyone can sign up for an
osgeo account to be able to edit the wiki. If anyone would like access
and can't figure it out, let me know and I'll try to help.

As to the calendar???? I don't know, but it'd be nice to
be somewhere where more people than just the few who have access to the
calendar on the umn site have access to make edits.
