Hello TileCache list,

My name is Jim Groffen and I work for LISAsoft. I'm in Adelaide, Australia.

We are involved in OWS-6 which will further the WMTS specification and we want to update the WMTS implementation in Tilecache to reflect this.

Specifically we are going to provide a tile caching service that supports the WMTS REST encoding, and we will also develop a SOAP wrapping of the REST encoding which is needed for OWS-6.

While the SOAP wrapper is less likely to be of interest to Tilecache as a permanent contribution, I'm hoping we can get the WMTS REST contributed. To that end, is there a preferred way you would like us to work? I guess ideal for us would be in a branch of the Tilecache SVN that can be merged when / if you are happy with it, but let us know how you would want us to work.

The effort will involve changes to Service. WMTS class to support REST requests for layers, tiles, capabilities etc. We will also want to support the concept of common names for scale sets, and a WMTS cache format. We will also be doing the SOAP wrapping of the REST using soaplib (http://trac.optio.webfactional.com/) or maybe manually if we can keep it simple enough.

I'm keen for any feedback you might have.

Regards,

Jim Groffen.
