[Ubuntu] GDAL problems on 12.04

Hi Frank,

gdal on (my) Ubuntu 12.04 runs very well.
Please add some extra information, like the version and package source 
you are using.
For example:

jgr at beijing:~$ apt-cache policy gdal-bin
gdal-bin:
   Instalado: 1.9.2-2~precise4
   Candidato: 1.9.2-2~precise4
   Tabela de Versão:
