Packaging work in ubuntugis are taken also from DebianGIS. The packages
from there are copied/rebuild for ubuntu. I cannot talk about all packages
in ubuntugis or osgeolive but most of them such as ossim is maintained by
people at debiangis team. I think all debian gis dev team usually hangout
on ubuntugis and osgeolive lists. So the message is heard anwyay.

Just for information, If you would like to contribute back to community you
can join the debiangis team. Adding all those ossim components into debian
would be a great addition indeed!. Right now only ossim-core component is
packaged.
